Headteacher Friday Update 12th February 2021

Date: 12th Feb 2021 @ 1:38pm

Dear Parent/Carer,

Well, the half term break is upon us and I am sure that we are all very much in need of it!  I do hope you find time to relax and unwind over the week and spend some family time away from computers and enjoying the nature on our doorstep.

As you will be aware from the media, we will continue as we are following the holiday.  Those children currently learning from home will continue to do so until we have further information from the Government.

A couple of things…

This year we are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March!

Our school theme for this year is: Get Caught Reading In An Unusual Place. We will put up a montage of the pictures submitted by everyone on the day. We will be giving out prizes to the most original ideas - so get your thinking caps on!

You might also like to celebrate this event by dressing up as a character from a favourite book.

We will send a link later today in Seesaw to your World Book Day token. There are many super books that you can choose for £1 or alternatively you could use your voucher to put towards a different book of your choosing. Supermarkets, such as Asda and Sainsburys, are accepting these vouchers as well as some online retailers.

If you are struggling to purchase your book, please respond with the book title of your choice by Friday 26th February and we will pick up your free book for you.

Other activities and challenges will be shared for you to do on the day.

And also…

As children return to school, we will be creating an exhibition of art work relating to our experiences over the last year.  We would like every child to create an original piece of artwork which may be a picture or something 3D, in any medium they like.  Each child in school will have one piece of work displayed.  We hope to maybe be able to move the exhibition down to The Priory later in the year, if we are permitted to do so and things start reopening.  The work needs to be of high quality and carefully worked on, with a few sentences describing the piece.  Please have a think about this over the next week and following half term we will post something on Seesaw about it.

May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for your continued support of school and wish you all a very happy half term break.

Best wishes,

Mrs Battersby
