Pupil voice on author visit.

Date: 30th Jun 2019 @ 9:13am

I took the opportunity to hear the views of a number of children across school on the impact of the visit by Jason Beresford on either their reading or writing skills. Their immediate responses were amazing for lots of reasons and I will get them to share with me later any writing/ reading to see if that initial impact is sustained and has had deeper impact in any way.

" I loved the acting which brought the story alive, put me in role and helped me think about how emotions, silences, pauses can help me understand the characters more. I loved the humour, funniness and the actions certainly made me laugh and want to write about a character of my own."

" The way the characters worked together as a team was good but my favourite character, Gary had a real impression on me. Lots of acting makes me nervous but my confidence grew as I pictured Gary and thought about his attitudes. I like dialogue in stories as it helps me know what characters are thinking. An amazing day."

"I liked the opportunity to buy a book and I certainly want to read more now I've got involved in the characters. What will they do next? It is a shame there are only three books so far. I want to know what else they get up to.  The acting out of situations helped me feel more comfortable with this skill as I am a bit nervous about doing acting. It is really good when reading to see how he uses punctuation. I liked the way Jason did not tell us we were going to write at the beginning as that puts me off sometimes. It helped me get ideas first then write them down.he excited us with ideas first then my writing began to flow. I enjoyed the day very much.
