'Mighty Oaks from Little Acorns Grow'

A very warm welcome to the Cartmel Church of England Primary School website. Here at Cartmel we pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and nurturing environment.  We strive to discover the unique gifts and talents of each child in our care, providing rich opportunities for growth and development academically, vocationally, socially and spiritually.  Our Mission Statement ‘Mighty Oaks from Little Acorns Grow’, pays homage to our conviction that there is something potentially wonderful in every individual.

Through the common language of our Christian values; love, respect, compassion, forgiveness, honesty and resilience, we equip our pupils with the necessary skills to go out into the wider community as confident, independent and responsible young people, with a lifelong love for learning.  ‘Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life.’ Proverbs 22:6

Our location inspires creativity.  We are fortunate to have the beautiful Priory Church on our doorstep alongside all the wonderful countryside our area provides, giving rise to invaluable outdoor learning experiences.  Our established love of art, music and drama at Cartmel helps children develop their ability to communicate through the expressive arts in a broad creative curriculum.  We are proud to have achieved the Artsmark Gold Award in 2022!

Operating from our premises is the independent Acorn Montessori Nursery.  Taking children from 2 years of age, Mrs Melanie Knight and her team work closely with our school, meaning children can now access schooling in the village from 2-16 years of age.

If you are considering Cartmel CE Primary for your child, do contact us to learn more about how we can work together in partnership with you, to provide an outstanding educational experience within this vibrant and thriving community.
