Class 1 Homework Challenges 5.10.18
Date: 4th Oct 2018 @ 8:15pm
We’ve had another busy week in class. Children have been doing some wonderful learning about being healthy. Here are some challenges you may like to do with your child:
-Following a recipe and measuring: children worked with Ms Catherine to follow instructions to make bread this week. They could have a go at following a recipe at home. It’s a great opportunity to talk about measuring in a real life context.
- Chopping and peeling: children used a ‘y’ shaped peeler to peel carrots and some other vegetables in class. They put the carrot on its end and peeled from the middle down, then turned it to peel the other half. They also used the claw grip to ensure that they’re fingers were firmly out of the way when chopping using a sharp knife. These are great life skills and will help to develop handy kitchen helpers :) Peeling: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PMx5tzTwKjY. Chopping: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HLFFc_8V63w
- Symmetry work: children have done some mirroring and painting symmetry work in class. They could do some mirror work with you! Can they copy your actions? Start with simple actions on one side of your body, then advance to balances.
- Next week some of our tasks and activities will be around the theme of ‘Our Hopes and Dreams.’ Ms Taylor-Crozier has sent a little task home with children for you to complete - please check your child’s bag.
- Your child has been sent home with some Smarties for your child to enjoy munching on. Once they have been eaten please encourage your child to do little jobs to earn 20p pieces to pop in them to help raise school funds.
Have a great weekend :)
