Design and Technology Day

Date: 14th Mar 2019 @ 4:09pm

What a great day!  Today the whole school had a DT day.  Class 1 designed and made pizzas.  They thought about the country of origin, looked at different types and then planned and cooked their own.  They were all different shapes, according to design, with a variety of toppings.  The best part was watching as they devoured them, sitting in a circle, getting tomato faces!  Some seemed to want to bring some home for parents...but that didn't seem to happen somehow, as they suddenly all seemed very hungry!

Class 2 made tax collector boxes on the theme of King John.  They wrote deisgn briefs, made technical drawings, planned,  measured, sawed and started to build their boxes.  Next they will be evaluating what they have done and finishing off the building process.

Class 3 worked with Mrs Slater on our school banner this morning and then designed and made something secret for an event coming up soon!!!  I can't say more or it will spoil a surprise.

We had lots of helpers in all the classes today, so thank you to those willing volunteers who gave of their time.  It was great to be able to have a full day for such a practical subject and meant that a huge amount of the whole process was covered for each class.  It's so important that our children have opportunities to build these practical and life skills, to take with them into future life.

Well done everyone!
