Reading and Phonics helpers in class 1

Date: 13th Oct 2018 @ 9:34am

Children have settled in well to class and have adapted well to the routines and structure of our school day. We are now going to introduce some changes so that children can be better supported with their developing reading and phonics skills in particular.

Currently Mrs Hilton (Jack from class 3’s Grandma) comes in each Tuesday for the entire morning to listen to each child read, and she kindly returns on a Wednesday to listen to any remaining children. Mrs Milner (our chair of Governors and a Leading Literacy teacher) will also support children with their individual reading on occasions.

After half-term we will also have 2 additional members of staff: Miss Molly and Miss Lace leading phonics groups in the mornings. This is great news for all of the children in our class as they will be learning in smaller groups :)

After half term we would also appreciate a parent volunteer to help on a Tuesday afternoon with our activities. If you have some spare time every Tuesday or the occasional Tuesday please let me know.

Mrs Walker :)
