Class 1 Homework Challenges 12.10.18

Date: 13th Oct 2018 @ 7:44am

Another very busy week in the Busy Bee Class :)

-The Snail and the Whale. Please take time to talk to your child about the story and the theatre production we watched https://www.tallstories.org.uk/the-snail-and-the-whale Children could have a go at writing their own little message and putting it in a bottle. It might be worth children having a go at writing a message to a house or garden fairy. Our class had a go at this during the Summer term and we found that we had fairies visiting our garden! 🧚🏻‍♀️ They wrote some lovely replies to children’s thoughtful letters - perhaps you have fairies in your home too?

- We have continued to practise the caterpillar letter formation and some children (mostly in year 1) are having a go at forming precursive letters too. It would be wonderful if children practised this anti-clockwise movement to form ‘a, o, d and g’ in this letter family.

- In maths we have been comparing numbers and sets of numbers to put them in order. We’ve also been doing some position tasks. You could play a ‘hide the toy’ game with your child to practise their positional language (under, behind, in front, next to, above, left, right)

- Computer skills - children have been using the school laptops with Miss Lace in class. It would be wonderful if you could support your child with computer skills at home too. We’d like children to be able to turn on and shut down a computer properly and to access a simple activity. It would be great if children could type in their names. Perhaps they could have s ho at changing the size, colour and font too.
