Friday Headteacher Update - 11th November 2022
Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 11:24am
We’ve been in a celebratory mood around school this week with the success of our fabulous footballers in Key Stage 2. They took part in the cluster Football Festival and played against teams from different schools in the area. Our year 3/4 children came second overall and our year 5/6 children came first! What a brilliant show of teamwork – we are very proud of them all!
We’ve also had some special art and design activities taking place in school on the theme of Remembrance and poppies. Yesterday, we welcomed a group from BAE Systems into school who spent the day with Class 3 working on a range of tasks around Remembrance including a session making their own paper containing poppy seeds. Their papers can eventually be recycled by planting them in the garden where their poppy seeds will be able to grow and flower. The children in Class 2 sewed some beautiful poppies which they have sold to everyone around the school today with proceeds being donated to the Poppy Appeal.
On the subject of Remembrance, today is the 11th November, Remembrance Day, which we marked in school during our collective worship this morning. Earlier in the week, Reverend Nick led our collective worship and talked about the background to our Remembrance Day each year and the significance of why we are all wearing our poppies today.
Next week’s calendar is looking busy again. Don’t forget ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Monday to mark the start of national Anti-Bullying Week and ‘Children in Need’ next Friday: wear something spotty!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Broom
